Privacy policy
Last updated 4 October 2026
This policy explains what personal information Voyo collects when you use the Voyo app or this website, why we need it, who we share it with, and how you can see, correct or delete it. "Voyo", "we" and "us" mean the team that runs the Voyo travel service.
In short
- We collect what we need to plan and run your trips: your name, email, phone number and bookings, and anything you choose to add.
- We don't sell your information, show you ads, or use tracking or analytics tools.
- You can ask us to show you, correct or delete your information at any time.
1. What we collect
When you create an account
- Your name, email address and password. We store the password only in a scrambled (hashed) form that we can't read.
- Your mobile number, if you add one in your profile.
- Your Google account details, if you choose "Continue with Google": your name, email address, profile photo and Google account ID. We never see your Google password.
- A profile photo, if you upload one.
When you book or plan a trip
- Your bookings: the trip, dates, number of travellers, price, any offer code or Voyo points used, and cancellations.
- Notes for your trip that you send us, such as food preferences or anything our team should know.
- Travel documents you upload to a trip, such as tickets, hotel vouchers or ID copies.
- Trip photos, captions and packing lists you add in the app.
- Enquiries and quote requests: your name, phone number, email, travel dates, group size and message.
When you use the app
- Reviews, review photos, travel stories and questions you post about trips.
- Your favourites, and the wishlists you choose to share.
- Voyo points and badges you earn and spend.
- Technical information our server receives with every request, such as your IP address, the time of the request, and a sign-in token that keeps you signed in. We use it to run the service, keep it secure and fix problems.
We don't collect your location, contacts, call logs or messages. We don't use advertising IDs, analytics or tracking tools. The app asks for one permission: showing notifications, which you can turn off at any time in your phone's settings.
2. How we use it
- To create and run your account and keep you signed in.
- To take your bookings and run your trips, including sharing what's needed with the people who look after you on the trip (see section 3).
- To contact you about your bookings and enquiries by email, phone or WhatsApp: confirmations, cancellations, trip details and reminders.
- To send sign-in and email confirmation codes.
- To show you notifications in the app, such as trip reminders and offers.
- To send you Voyo news and offers by email. Every such email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing doesn't affect emails about your own bookings.
- To give and track Voyo points and offers.
- To keep the service secure, prevent misuse, and meet our legal, tax and accounting duties.
We use your information because you give it to us to use these services, or because the law requires us to keep it. You can withdraw your consent at any time (see section 7). Some services, like booking a trip, aren't possible without the information they need.
3. Who we share it with
We don't sell your personal information or share it for advertising. We share only what's needed, with:
- The people who deliver your trip, such as hotels, guides, drivers and transport operators: usually your name, the number of travellers, your phone number and any trip notes they need.
- Service providers who run parts of Voyo for us, and only for that purpose:
- our hosting provider, which stores our data and runs our servers;
- our email delivery service (Resend), which sends our emails;
- Google, if you choose to sign in with Google;
- Unsplash, which supplies some destination photos: your device downloads those photos directly from Unsplash, so Unsplash sees your IP address.
- Authorities, when the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our travellers, our team or the public.
When you tap Call or WhatsApp in the app, your phone opens that app, and your conversation is covered by its own privacy policy. Some of these providers may store data outside India, with safeguards required by law.
4. What other people can see
- Reviews show your name next to your review and photos.
- Travel stories show your first name and profile photo once our team publishes them.
- Questions about a trip and our answers can be seen by other travellers.
- A shared wishlist can be opened by anyone who has its link. You can stop sharing it in the app at any time.
Everything else, including your contact details, bookings, documents and trip photos, is private to you and our team. Your documents and trip photos open only through links that expire after two hours.
5. What stays on your phone
The app keeps some information on your phone so it works offline and opens quickly: your sign-in and copies of the travel documents you've opened. They're kept in the app's private storage, which other apps can't read. Signing out removes them from the phone, and uninstalling the app removes everything.
To check for new notifications, the app asks our server about every 15 minutes while you're signed in. We don't use Firebase or other third-party push services.
6. How long we keep it
- Account and profile information: while your account is open.
- Travel documents and trip photos: while your account is open, unless you delete them sooner.
- Booking records: as long as tax and accounting law requires, even after your account is closed. Once you close your account, we remove your contact details from them where the law allows.
- Enquiries: as long as we need them to answer you and follow up, or until you ask us to delete them.
- Sign-in and confirmation codes: they expire within minutes and are deleted.
- Server logs: a short time, for security and fixing problems.
7. Your choices and rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and other laws that apply to you, you can:
- See a summary of the personal information we hold about you and how we use it.
- Correct or update it. You can change your name, email, mobile number and photo yourself under Profile in the app.
- Delete it (see section 8).
- Withdraw your consent for us to use your information. This doesn't affect what we did before, and it may mean we can't keep providing some services.
- Stop marketing emails with the unsubscribe link in any of them, and turn off notifications in your phone's settings.
- Nominate someone to use these rights for you if you die or can't use them yourself.
- Complain to us first (see section 12). If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Contact us to use any of these rights. We may ask you to prove it's your account, and we'll reply within 30 days.
8. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time:
- In the app: Profile → Delete account. You confirm with your password, or with Google if you sign in with Google.
- On our website, without the app: https://voyo.anvitsystem.in/delete-account. We email you a code to confirm it's you.
- By contacting us from the email address or phone number on the account (see section 12).
Deleting happens straight away. We:
- delete your name, email, mobile number, password, Google link and profile photo, and sign you out everywhere;
- delete your favourites, shared wishlist, travel documents, trip photos, packing lists, reviews, stories, enquiries and notifications;
- keep your questions on trips, shown as from "Deleted traveller";
- keep records of your past bookings only as long as the law requires, with your name and contact details removed (see section 6).
If you have an upcoming trip, cancel it or contact us first, so we can still reach you about it. Your Voyo points can't be used after deletion. Copies in our backups are overwritten in the normal backup cycle.
9. Keeping it safe
We protect your information with encrypted connections, scrambled passwords, expiring private links for documents and photos, and access only for team members who need it. No service can be completely secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we'll tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
10. Children
You need to be 18 or older to create a Voyo account. Children can travel on trips booked by a parent or guardian, who gives us only the details the trip needs. If you think a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For important changes, we'll also tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
12. Contact us
For questions about your privacy, to use your rights, or to make a complaint, contact Voyo's grievance team:
